Our Story

My name is Oliver, owner of Scrub Oak Cattle Co. which operates in the Rockies of Colorado.

I started working for my uncle as a ranch hand back in 2019 and quickly became very passionate about cowboying. The more I learned, the more I wanted to work my own cows, and build a business from it. I was given the opportunity to start my own herd and I jumped on it, determined to make a life of it for my family.

Our cattle only know the wide open spaces. They spend their summers grazing the mountain pastures of the White River National Forest, and their winters at home on the ranch eating hay baled from the same pastures they wander. No added hormones. No pesticides. No antibiotics. Just clean, 100% grass fed and finished beef.

Today we offer beef shares to local customers, quarters, halves, and whole cows.

In addition to ranching, I am a leather maker on the side. I started leatherwork back in 2021 as a way to make the leather I needed while cowboying on the day-to-day. I then started making leather for friends and family, and it slowly grew into the small business it is today. As it grew, so did my knowledge and skill. I am self-taught and specialize in western cowboying gear. I strive to build leather goods that are not only functional, but beautiful in design.

Today you can find me working on my uncles ranch spending my days riding, fencing, irrigating, working cattle. Or I’ll be in my leather shop working to perfect my craft. Everyday building up a business striving to put out the best quality product.
